Prevent Apple & Pear Slices from Browning

apple browning
I love eating apple so much, this is my first favorite fruit on the earth! And can’t never refuse eating it when I see sliced apples on the table. Knowing the benefits of apple and because of the reason I can eat tons of apple per day, I always prepare sliced apple every morning. Before i start my working day, I slice the apple and put on the big plate, so during the day I always have my snack. To save my time, I have a great kitchen gadget, that I bought on Amazon. It’s available in every store, but anyway I’ll give you an Amazon link: Apple Corer/Slicer. It’s an inexpensive gadget, and makes it easy to cut apple in equal slices.
But there is one unpleasant thing with my sliced apples. You know when you put sliced apples for a while, they oxidize and become brown. The same happens to sliced pear. While they are still tasty, it’s better eating fresh fruit. So I found the way to solve this problem. There are several ways to prevent apple and pear slices from browning.
1. Mix 2 tbs of honey and a cup of water and soak your fruit in this mixture for 30 seconds. This works not only for apple and pear but for other fruit you want to protect from browning. Fruit will look fresh for the next 8 hours.
2. Lemon is one of the best way to solve this “problem”. Some people just squeeze the lemon juice on the apple slices, but it makes apple taste like lemon and I don’t like this way. I’d prefer adding water on lemon juice and putting my apple into this water. Use a cup of water and 1 tbs of lemon juice.
3. Another method is using salty water. But make sure your water isn’t too much salty not to affect the taste of the fruit. Use 1/2 teaspoon of salt in 4 cups of water.
4. You can also use orange or grapefruit, they will work just like lemon.
If you use of these easy tricks, you can slice apple or pear or some other fruit and eat whenever you or your children wish, your fruit will stay fresh and won’t become brown during the day.
